This project consists of 16 sections of medium voltage service entrance rated switchgear and a 5-section emergency standby generator control switchboard with master control. Automation is provided by an Allen-Bradley ControLogix PLC system with redundant hot backup processors and a ControlNet redundant I/O network. The programming language is RSLogix 5000.

A 15-inch color touch screen located on the master panel and connected via an Ethernet network, communicates to the PLC and each of the 16 Multilin protective relays and 2 Multilin power quality meters. Metering data and control functionality is displayed on the master interface panel.

Automated control functionality includes emergency standby generator control logic with utility transfer controls, generator demand control, feeder breaker controls, data logging and annunciation.

The system controls up to four Caterpillar 3516B generator sets each rated at 2,000 kW standby. The generator control panel contains Woodward DSLC engine controllers for synchronizing and loading the generators.
