One of nine prime power projects built by Controlled Power for the Alaska
Energy Authority was built to their latest design concept and exacting
standards. Arctic Village is a highly integrated project utilizing an
extensive communication network.
Each site is equipped with a SCADA computer running Allen-Bradley RSView software to gather, display and data-log information from the engines, governors and meters. This information can be accessed via the internet for monitoring, programming or control purposes.
The 5-Section switchboard is custom angle iron frame construction rated at 480 volt, 1000 amp. It parallels four engine-generators, totally automatically, using molded case circuit breakers with contactors for electrical operation.
Major components include; Woodward GCP-31 digital generator controllers, Allen-Bradley SLC500 PLC with an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix backup PLC, DeviceNet I/O, and a 15" PanelView Plus color touch screen OIU.
