This Life Safety application is located in Fairbanks, AK at the new Fort
Wainwright Army Community Hospital. The MEDB switchboard consists of ten
sections of Cutler-Hammer 480 volt metal clad switchgear (UL 1558). The
switchboard provides three generator breakers for connecting three 910 kW
diesel powered generators, and twelve feeder breakers that switch emergency
power to the facility's automatic transfer switches.
Generator demand and load shed/restore automation is provided by an Allen-Bradley SLC500 PLC using DeviceNet I/O. The PLC provides Modbus RTU connectivity to the Cutler-Hammer INCOM network server (Cutler-Hammer NLD1T) and the facility's power monitoring server. The power monitoring application was generated using Cutler-Hammer's PowerNet and custom HMI development software.
